Eglantine vs NX2Apple
Not a fork of each other
NX2Apple is not in the Eglantine fork table as a child build. Its readme describes a launcher for nxnative. nxnative’s readme describes rewriting the game’s own ARM64 code and drawing with Metal on Apple silicon. Eglantine is an emulator with Windows, Linux and macOS packages, a JIT story, and MoltenVK on Mac. One machine can be interested in both, and they are still different programs.
Choose Eglantine if you are on Windows or Linux, or if you want one desktop program for more than one title. Choose the native path only if you are on Apple hardware and you accept per-game profiles. NX2Apple’s notes say prod.keys are required for Switch 1 dumps and are not required for Switch 2 .nup files. Eglantine’s handbook still asks for keys from your console as part of first launch. I am not merging those two key sentences into one rule.
Search interest in “nx2apple” is large and steady enough that the comparison earns a page. It does not earn a download mirror. Both projects expect a dump you made. This site hosts neither.
Questions
Will an Eglantine setting speed up NX2Apple?
No. The switches file belongs to Eglantine. NX2Apple does not read it.
Does Eglantine on Mac replace NX2Apple?
Only if emulation is what you wanted. The Mac build is arm64, not notarized, and still on MoltenVK. Native Metal ports are a different approach, with a shorter game list.
