Install Eglantine on Windows
Pick one of the two zips
The 7 Nov 2026 release attaches eglantine-windows-x86_64.zip at 115.7 MB and eglantine-windows-x86_64-pgo.zip at 68.4 MB. Release notes call the first the MSVC build and tell you to use it when another build has graphical trouble. They call the second a MinGW PGO build that bundles its own DLLs and does not need the Visual C++ redistributable.
The handbook still says the program will not even launch without that redistributable. I keep that sentence for the MSVC zip and the bundle sentence for the PGO zip. After you unpack, the windowed program is eglantine.exe. The command-line program in the same folder is eden-cli.exe.
First launch and a known crash flag
SmartScreen can say Windows protected your PC. The handbook’s path is More info, then Run anyway. The first successful window then asks for decryption keys: Tools, Install Decryption Keys. Firmware is Tools, Install Firmware, from a folder or a zip. Double-click the game list to add a folder of dumps you made yourself.
Builds 73 and 64 documented a crash that showed up after build 47: some people closed immediately when a game started. The note in those releases is to start once with set EDEN_NX2_SPARSE_LAZY=0 and then eglantine.exe. That is a workaround from those notes, not a permanent setting I can promise still matters on build-212.
If the window never appears, the crash page separates driver crashes, the Apple graphics stack (not this page), and a missing runtime. Logs are described on the settings page.

Questions
Do I need Visual C++?
For the MSVC zip, the handbook says yes. For the MinGW PGO zip, the release notes say the DLLs are already in the archive.
Which file do I double-click?
eglantine.exe. eden-cli.exe is the command-line build shipped beside it.

Links from the same publisher count as one source; a community compilation counts as one source even when it contains many reports.
